Weekly Letter for 4.5.24

April 5, 2024

Dear Families,

Happy Friday!

We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful spring break, but we are happy to have welcomed everyone back into the swing of things this week. In ELA, students are working on completing their final essay of the year. They wrote their first body paragraph this week – ask them to share it with you! In Math, students are studying equations and expressions and should be working on their coordinate plane test corrections. In Expedition, we started our study of world religions this week. We have firmly scheduled our visits to the Buddhist and Hindu temples (on May 13 and 14, respectively) and are still coordinating visits to other places of worship. We will have a sign-up genius to chaperone and drive sent out next week, so save the date!

Next Monday, April 8th, there is a partial solar eclipse. Since the peak of the eclipse (about 78% coverage) is at 3:15 pm, we will have a delayed start to carpool and will begin carpool at 3:30 pm at the middle school campus. 6th graders will go to the green space to view the eclipse, so if you’d like to arrive early to join us, please plan to meet us at the green space at 3:00! We will provide solar eclipse glasses for all students to view the eclipse safely, but please consider having a conversation with your student about the importance of not staring directly at the sun without protection!

There is no school next Tuesday, April 9th in observance of Eid, and for those who will be celebrating throughout the day on April 10th, know that any absences for religious holidays are always excused.

See you next week!

Your Team,

Casar, Emily, Hope, and Noah
